Going into the eliminations, I already knew who I was using my Instant Save, aka the Twitter Save, for. Unfortunately we said goodbye to 2 good singers who were finally starting to come into their own.
Ellie Goulding took to the stage to sing “Burn” with the help of Will Champlin, James Wolpert and Matthew Schuler. From what I could hear, the performance was good but everyone’s mics needed to be turned up to 11. Cee Lo Green, joined by his fellow Goodie Mob member Big Gipp, gave a visually beautiful performance of a really weird song called “Amy.” I’m sure he was saying he found the “right” girl, but it sounded like “white,” and there were nothing but white girls on stage. It was weird, ok!? Then the contestants got together for a mashup of ONERepublic‘s “Apologize” and “All The Right Moves.”
Both of Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine‘s teams are still intact, though I knew that Matthew was going to be in the Bottom 3. Adam told him that his performance of “Hallelujah” was a defining moment, and I hope he and Xtina take that as a signal that Schuler needs to go back doing songs like that. Also in the bottom, and going home, were Caroline Pennell and Blake Shelton‘s team member Ray Boudreaux. So Team Cee Lo is out for the season, and surprisingly, Blake is only down to one singer.
So two things: I really need the focus of the show to not soley be on Blake and Adam. I like them, enough, but the let’s move on from the bromance. Also, only we East Coasters get to vote for Instant Save. I assume it won’t be used when we get down to the Top 3.
