There were some pretty big duels for the second batch of of the Battle Rounds. Coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton continued to knock singers off their team, and there was even a steal at the end. Here’s how the contestants did on Tuesday night’s show.
It was a fairly even match between Matthew Schuler and Jacob Poole, but Xtina gave them a challenging song to perform. Fall Out Boy‘s “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)” not only has a long ass title, but is hard to sing live. Even Patrick Stump has trouble with it. I think Matthew and Jacob hit it out of the park though, and they managed not to step on each other toes. Blake called it a “musical ass whooping” and thought Jacob was winner, but Xtina chose the sweaty Matthew as the winner.
Team Cee Lo
Kat Robichaud and R. Anthony have similar styles, so it was no wonder why Cee Lo put them together. He gave the two “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” by Aerosmith and wanted them to bring out the emotion in the song. R. Anthony was overdoing it a bit with his runs, and mentor Miguel instructed him to be less disingenuous. I’m glad he didn’t give him any pointers on his stage presence…anyways! Both had their moments during the performance, Kat hit an excellent note during the end which I think helped Cee Lo’s decision. She moves on to the Knockout Rounds.
I was glad to hear that Blake would have Monika Leigh and Ray Boudreaux sing “Some Kind of Wonderful.” It’s just a great song and they did a pretty good job with it. Monika was the standout performer here though, especially during the “can I get a witness part.” However, Blake decided to keep Ray, leaving Monika open for a steal. Luckily Cee Lo hit his button for her and she gets to stay in the competition. Also, how cute was Ray’s little girl out there in the audience clapping for her dad?!
Adam Levine seemed a little separated from the competition, but he did have a match-up with Ashley DuBose and Justin Blake, who sang Christina and Blake’s “I’m Just A Fool.” Ashley won that bought. Cee Lo also had a match between Cole Vosbury and Lupe Carroll singing “Africa” by ToTo because it’s Cee Lo ok. Cole won that one. Voice/actress E. G. Daily [DOTTIE!]won her match between Sam Cerniglia with “Something To Talk About.”
The competition continues next week. How do you think all the singers did? Let us know!
