Last night on his late-night show, Jimmy Kimmel took a moment to talk about and honor his sweet Uncle Frank (Frank Potenza) who passed away from several types of cancer on August 20th at the age of 77, surrounded by his loving family. Jimmy handled the entire piece with such grace, humor and tears. I was afraid to watch these videos, but I’m so pleased that I did…
Much like David Letterman has done over the 30-odd years he’s been on the air with members of his staff and crew (but less cringe-worthy; remember Larry (Bud) Melman from back in the NBC days?) , Jimmy had Uncle Frank do some crazy and hilarious interviews with celebrities and other oddball silliness that added so much to the joy of the show.
Uncle Frank had become such a huge part of Jimmy Kimmel Live, that it truly is hard to imagine the show without him. Rest peacefully, Sir. You will be–and already are missed.
