Now we know why Soundgarden cancelled their Sasquatch headlining date, don’t we? We did we ever bitch and moan up in here when we saw the tour schedule of co-headliners Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden. Of course we did–how on earth could they just omit Seattle?? Turns out, they didn’t!
Honestly. THESE two.

The second single from Nine Inch Nails‘ upcoming album hit the web pretty late Sunday night, making my Monday morning a bit more enjoyable. El Rez and the gang have used “Copy Of A” to open their sets at recent festivals like Lollapalooza, so it’s nice to finally hear the studio version. I find it a bit more accessible than “Came Back Haunted” and it gives up a taste of what we can expect from ‘Hesitation Marks.’
NIN played an amazing set at the Outside Lands Festival over the weekend where they played “Copy Of A” and another two other one songs, “Find My Way” and “Disappointed.” You can watch the whole set here if you weren’t lucky enough to be there or didn’t catch the live stream. The band will be playing the Pukkelpop festival in Hasselt, Germany on the 15 and have added an “intimate” gig at London’s Scala on August 20 where they will be for the Reading and Leeds festivals on August 23 and 25. It’s so exciting to see, and hear, them playing live again.
‘Hesitation Marks’ will be out on September 3 and you know we can’t wait to hear it!
Nine Inch Nails and David Lynch are a match made in Disturbing Heaven. Trent Reznor tapped the director for NIN’s first video in 5 years, and it’s a glorious mix of surreal and eerie. A shaking Rez appears throughout among images of lightning bolts and what looks like something out of Lynch’s ‘Eraserhead.’ Nightmare-fuel indeed. The video does feature lots of flashing lights, so heed the warning.

This is the first time Reznor and Lynch have worked together since Trent produced the soundtrack for 1997’s ‘Lost Highway.’ Makes me wonder if he’ll be working with another one of our favorite directors anytime soon. “Came Back Haunted” is the first single from ‘Hesitation Marks,’ which will be released on September 3. The album is produced by some familiar NIN collaborators, Alan Moulder and Atticus Ross and also features a surprising guest in Fleetwood Mac‘s Lindsey Buckingham.
1. “The Eater of Dreams”
2. “Copy of A”
3. “Came Back Haunted”
4. “Find My Way”

9. “Various Methods of Escape”
11. “I Would for You”
12. “In Two”
