The White Stripes Call It Quits

Jack White and Meg White

In “Should Have Seen It Coming News“,  The White Stripes decide to disband. After 13 years, Meg and Jack White have ended their collaboration and left a simple message on their official website for fans:

There has been tons of speculation about whether they would ever record again after they canceled their 2008 tour because of Meg’s anxiety issues. Since then, they have only released a live album, Under The Great Northern Lights, while Jack has worked with his side projects The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather. As much as I love those two bands, it just doesn’t beat The White Stripes.

I remember seeing their Michel Gondry directed Lego video for “Fell In Love With A Girl” for the first time really late on MTV. Then learning that the band was only made up of two members, and that Meg and Jack were related, or married. I still never figured that out, but that’s another thing that made them so cool. The Raconteurs aren’t as out there, and The Dead Weather isn’t as weird but they’ll have to do.

I’ll miss you guys.
