You’ve probably never heard of the comic ‘The Goon‘ but hopefully you will soon. Eric Powell, the man behind the series, and director David Fincher have tried for the past couple of years to adapt the comic into a feature film but have had trouble getting the project off the ground. They discussed why it was so hard to get backing a few years ago to MTV.
So now Finch along with Jeff Fowler and Tim Miller have started a Kickstarter to fund the film. Miller was behind the opening sequence for Fincher’s last film ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ and the ‘Halo 4‘ launch trailer that he produced.
The guys are looking for $400,000 and make their case in a pretty funny video explaining that the movie will be for everyone, including hip hop fans and arch conservatives.
It’s weird to think that something so original with some pretty talented people behind it would have trouble finding funding, but it’s Hollywood and we’re getting sequels to reboots of movies from the 2000’s. You can donate to the Kickstarter and check out the original ‘The Goon‘ concept trailer here.
