The Associated Press is confirming that Beyonce will be performing during the halftime show at the 2013 Super Bowl. The source that leaked the news chose to remain anonymous because they weren’t authorized to publicly leak the information. Whoops! The official announcement will be made on Wednesday (tomorrow!).
Next year’s event will be held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome down in New Orleans which hasn’t hosted a Super Bowl since Hurricane Katrina devastated the city in 2005. Pepsi is returning at the show’s sponsor since doing so in 2007 when Prince rocked halftime. I know a lot of her fans welcome the news and you know she’ll bring in huge numbers for the show.
This year already seems to be looking better for Christina Aguilera. It is now confirmed that Christina will be singing the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLV. “I have been performing the anthem since I was seven years old and I must say the Super Bowl is a dream come true. I am really excited to be part of such an iconic event,” Aguilera gushed in a statement. Ummm, you sang the National Anthem at the NBA Playoffs last year. I guess the Super Bowl is more prestigious.
Christina performed during 2000’s halftime show, this year we will be treated to the musical stylings of The Black Eyed Peas. Can’t wait, they do put on a good show. The Pittsburgh Steelers will take on the Green Bay Packers February 6 at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas. The game will be broadcast at 6:30 p.m. EST on FOX. Tickets are as high as $5,000 this year. Yikes.
