Shonda Rhimes‘s Twitter bio says “I make stuff up for a living,” and it’s paying off really well. Rhimes inked a 4-year extension deal with ABC, which means she’ll be driving us crazy for the rest of the decade. With hit shows, ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’ which was picked up for it’s 11th season, ‘Scandal,‘ also returning this Fall, and ‘Private Practice‘ under her belt, she has become one of the most recognizable showrunners and is helping ABC to dominate Thursday TV. So, it’s no surprise that her newest show has already landed a full series order.
‘How To Get Away With Murder‘ stars Academy Award nominee Viola Davis as Annalise Keating, a law professor and criminal lawyer, who like every other character Shonda has created, is brilliant at what they do, but has a totally messed up private life. In the first trailer for the show, Annalise is shown teaching some not completely ethical things to her class, and of course she is cheating on her husband in her spare time. I was instantly drawn in, and you can tell Rhimes and Betsy Beers have another Twitter breaking show on their hands.
To help launch ‘HTGAWM,’ both ‘Scandal‘ and ‘Grey’s‘ will be moving up an hour on Thursday nights. The show also stars Matt McGory, Aja Naomi King, Katie Findlay, Alfred Enoch (Dean from the ‘Harry Potter‘ movies, y’all) and Charlie Weber. So, are you in for Shonda’s latest, or are you sitting this one out?
