Billie Joe Armstrong is reportedly headed to rehab after his now infamous freak-out at the iHeartRadio awards in Las Vegas on Friday. Let’s watch it together, shall we? THEN we’ll talk.
On Sunday, the band posted the following message on their Facebook page:
“Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances.”
Offended? And just when my indifference towards Green Day was beginning to turn to respect..
Was this outburst really a cry for help and a need for a treatment program? Or was it just a pissed-off rant that Green Day’s handlers are now trying to handle? Maybe I’m biased because I’m always yelling at people after a few drinks, but this seems like nothing more than a ploy to tame the stories and make the the conservative ClearChannel folks happy. You remember who owns Clear Channel, right? Bain Capital is one of the primary owners of this company…COUGH Romney COUGH.
In all honestly, I’m more entertained by Green Day just yelling at people and making them angry than I have ever been entertained by them just hanging out and making music.
But if this is a legit situation: Godspeed, Billie Joe. Keep on keeping on and not being [fucking] Justin Bieber.
I wonder if Prince had a chat with Whitney backstage last week about cleaning herself UP. Some of you may have heard that Whitney joined Chaka Khan onstage last week prior to His Majesty making his appearance onstage for the continuation of his “21 Night Stand“ in Los Angeles. It makes sense, really, but only time will tell if he was the catalyst for Whitney’s latest entry to rehab.
Ms. Houston’s representatives have released a statement confirming that she has entered rehab for substance abuse.
“I can confirm that Whitney Houston is currently in an out-patient rehab program for drug and alcohol treatment,” Kristen Foster said. “Whitney voluntarily entered the program to support her long-standing recovery process.”
Whitney? We are all pulling for you. You had The Voiceevery woman has wished they had. Come back. You can do it…and be an example to your daughter, who could very well be headed down that same dark road.
You know, I feel sorta bad for Aaron Carter. He had a tiny career for about a minute, because his big bro Nick Carter was in a huge boy band. I think they were called Backstreet Boys or something. (I was just called out on that, because I saw BSBtwice in concert. Sigh.)
Back to poor Aaron’s sitch. Is this the first time he’s been to rehab? Or am I thinking of A.J. from BackstreetBoys–who is ALSO back in the ‘hab. Whatever. Here’s the dirt, according to Aaron’s manager
“Several months ago Aaron came to me to help him return to music and to restart his career. He has been in Orlando working on a new album and perfecting his live show and his physical body. Aaron, understanding the challenges and hard work it would take to get himself back to the top, requested to take some time before we started to heal some emotional and spiritual issues he was dealing with.
Therefore he has chosen to enter a facility where he feels he will get the guidance and cleansing he needs that will help him on the music journey he’s about to take. He asks that everyone keep him in their prayers and that they respect his privacyat this time.”
Well, now. I hope Aaron gets the help he needs. He seemed to be okay during Dancing With the Stars, but that photo above creeps me right out. Sin-yew-eeee.
