Actress Carey Mulligan and leader of the band Mumford & Sons Marcus Mumford got hitched Saturday on a farm in the English countryside. The couple walked down the aisle to the sounds of Mumford’s friend Adele.
The singer famously turned down the chance to sing at the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton because a friend had already invited her to a barbecue beforehand.
Also among their more than 100 guests were actors Sienna Miller, Colin Firth and Jake Gyllenhaal. Marcus’ father, a vicar, conducted the ceremony which took place in a converted barn. Carey had eight bridesmaids, said to have worn turquoise knee length dresses with blue shoes. Her dress was described as a plain, backless ivory dress, thought to be designed by Versace. The groom drove himself to the venue, rocking Ray-Ban shades while his dad flew himself there in a helicopter. How understated.
The couple had been engaged for a year. They were childhood pen pals but fell out of touch until they met again at a Mumford & Sons concert. Doesn’t this all sound like a rom-com Carey would star in?
Congrats to the happy couple!
