Cameron Douglas, son of Michael Douglas, has been sentence to five years in prison.
“Michael Douglas’ son Cameron was just sentenced to five years in prison — for his role in a major drug dealing operation.
Cameron Douglas — along with his father and his mother Diandra — was present in federal court in Manhattan today when the judge fired off the sentence.
Along with the prison time, Cameron was ordered to pay $25,000 in fines and must serve 450 hours of community service. Once he’s out of the joint, Cameron is also required to spend an additional 5 years in a supervised release program.
Back in January, Cameron plead guilty to dealing large amounts of methamphetamine and cocaine.”
Michael Douglas has reportedly written a 5-page letter to a New York judge begging for mercy on his drug-trafficking son, Cameron. Let’s take a stroll down memory lane, shall we? I want y’all to remember exactly why and how Cameron ended up in jail:
“Michael Douglas’s son was under surveillance for three years before he was arrested earlier this week for allegedly dealing crystal meth. Cameron Douglas, 30, used the code “bath salts” to refer to the drug – which authorities claim he had been selling “pounds” of since 2006.
News of the arrest did not emerge until earlier this week. He had been staying at the hotel, courtesy of his father, for some time, possibly after he was evicted from his Los Angeles home for not paying his rent. When authorities barged in, they found the place a mess and said Douglas was “very strung out,” sources said.
An informant had told investigators that Douglas was the middleman in a deal to move a half-pound of crystal meth from California to New York to sell. But the drugs were intercepted before they got to New York.”
POUNDS of crystal meth. Three years of surveillance by the DEA. If this dude’s name were Jethro McWhitetrash we wouldn’t even be having this conversation. But since we’re dealing with Hollywood (drunkass) Royalty, suddenly the rules may be bent. Hard. Michael Douglas is using the excuse that because Cameron was raised as a privileged child in a wealthy, very successful acting dynasty, the court should show mercy.
“In his letter, Douglas paints his son’s problems as the product, in part, of a privileged but difficult childhood, a family legacy of drug and alcohol problems and the long shadow cast by a family of screen icons.
I have some idea of the pressure of finding your own identity with a famous father,” wrote Douglas, who starred in “Wall Street” and whose father starred in “Spartacus.” ”I’m not sure I can comprehend it with two generations to deal with.
Yeah. You read that correctly. The Douglas family wants it both ways: “Poor Cam. He had such a hard (read: easy) childhood so he should get a lighter sentence. Oh, and we’re the DOUGLAS FAMILY! Don’t you know who you’re dealing with? We’re SPECIAL!”
Really? TRAFFICKING POUNDS OF METH.
Stay tuned for a nice big sentence for rehab in a posh facility.
