Happy Birthday, Brandon Boyd (from Incubus, come ON) !

First of all, before anyone else says it, I know. I know Brandon Boyd bears a striking resemblance to my beautiful son Hunter.  In face, if George Harrison and Brandon somehow had a child,  he would be Hunter.  Hunter Brandon Harrison.  So there.  I get it.

What I don’t wanna hear are any wise-ass remarks pertaining to some Freudian crap or any Oedipus references.  Can’t a Mum just be happy her baby boy turned into a beauty like her favorite musicians, forpitysake?

ANYlovemyboy,  I’ve posted my favorite Incubus song, and one of my favorite all-time songs by anyone, EVER, “Dig“.  Take a moment a listen to the words.

Happy 37th Birthday, Brandon Boyd.

Just sayin’.

Song of the Day – “Wander This World” by Jonny Lang (Live AOL Sessions)

Jonny Lang at age 14...
...and Jonny now.

I’m feeling a lot today. A lot of what I’m not exactly sure, but my chest is heavy and aching. I’m posting a very personal song tonight, Jonny Lang’s Wander This World. It’s pretty emotionally wrenching…

The tar in the street starts to melt from the heat
And the sweats runnin’ down from my hair
I walked 20 miles and I’m draggin’ my feet
And I’ll walk 20 more and I don’t care
I’ll wander this world, wander this world
Wander this world, wander this world all alone
Alone I’m like a ghost some people can’t see
Others drive by and stare
A shadow that drifts by the side of the road
It’s like I’m not even there
And I’ll wander this world, wander this world
Wander this world, wander this world all alone
Well I’ve never been part of the game
The life that I live is my own
All that I know is that I was born
To wander this world all alone
All alone
Some people are born with their lives all laid out
And all their success is assured
Some people work had all their lives for nothin’
They take it and don’t say a word
They don’t say a word
Sometimes it’s like I don’t even exist
Even God has lost track of my soul
Why else would he leave me out here like this
To wander this world all alone
And I’ll wander this world, wander this world
Wander this world, wander this world all alone

But remember this?  This sweet boy was 15 when this video was first played on VH1. I remember stopping in my TRACKS.  I. Could. Not. Breathe. What kind of voice was that coming outta this boy’s  mouth? I called my sons  to watch the video with me. Alex wasn’t all that interested, but Hunter–who was eight years old at the time–stood still.  Hunter had begun playing guitar at around age 6, and he knew…he just KNEW.

Watching this video now makes my heart ache a bit.  I didn’t remember that Jonny walked into a guitar shop and just started jamming…and singing.  I can’t count how many times I’ve been with Hunter–and this kind of thing just happened.  The last time I saw Hunter involved in a session like this was with three older blues musicians.  They started jamming, and it slowly turned into Purple Rain, then Sly and the Family Stone.  I had no idea he could just DO that…even after all of Hunter’s shows, I had never seen this side of his talent.  The blues gentlemen were gracious and sweet, and very complimentary of Hunter’s musicianship.

I want to see that side of Hunter again. I want to see him lost in his music.   I realize I’m being Mama-ish and melancholy.  I guess it comes with the territory?

Happy Birthday, Pee-Wee Herman!

"I KNOW you are, but what am I??"

Oh, Pee-Wee.  Happy 58th (WHAAAA???) Birthday to the silliest boy in Puppetland!

Here are just a couple of superfunny clips. (The video with Pteri singing, “My name is Pteri…) is one that I have to watch on a loop with 2-year old Felix and then the song is stuck in my head for 72 hours–which is appropriate, since that’s the amount of time one has to spend once we’re involuntarily locked up in the Party House – aka The Psych Ward, Bitches!)

My name is Cray-Cray, my name is Cray-Cray!!  SING with me!! Or ELSE!!

And this clip?  Alex and Hunter still say I’m nutty like Miss Yvonne…”is she PRETTY?? Is she prettier than me????” This started when they were TINY.  Sarcastic little buttholes…

And this gem…

“AAAAHHHHHRRRR!!!”  (Funny thing, Felix sees Mrs. Jelly Donut and says “MAMA!”  Sssshhhh..don’t tell Dayna.)

Bummer about Cowboy Curtis's daughter and those movies she's making now, huh?

Oh, and everyone on the east coast? I hate you.  Here’s why:
