Even though Les Miz is drowning in star-power (Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried) the poster for the film of the classic musical is staying true to its Broadway roots by featuring Isabelle Allen’s haunting young face. She plays the young Cosette in the film, and with her windswept hair, the image is clearly a nod to the original.
Universal released an extended Featurette which showcases the live singing that we will see by the stars in the film, which opens Christmas 2012.
Here’s where I am readying myself for a public flogging (at least by my theater friends…). I’ve never seen the musical OR read the book. I really have no idea why I haven’t. I just haven’t.
Now I’m hiding under my bed out of fear and shame…
I can’t fault Anne Hathaway for wanting to get her method acting on, but I also want to weep for the loss of her luscious hair. Hathaway cut off all her locks in preparation for her role as Fantine in the big screen adaptation of Les Miserables. She has also reportedly been on a very strict, low calorie diet to lose as much weight as possible for the film.
Not to mention Anne has a wedding to a non-criminal fiance Adam Shulman, who she was spotted with in London leaving a nightclub early Sunday morning, coming up, although maybe not this year.
There’s also a huge movie, The Dark Knight Rises, in which she plays Catwoman to promote this summer. I’m sure in the words of Tim Gunn she’ll find a way to “make it work.”
What do you guys think, is the pixie look working for her?
