Singer Katy Perry and actor Russell Brand tied the knot in an elaborate Indian ceremony at the luxury Aman-i-Khas resort near the Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary in Rajasthan. This is the same spot where Russell proposed to Katy last December. Reportedly, the groom rode into the ceremony on a horse, flanked by camels and elephants. The bride wore a dress by Eli Saab and two other gowns by Zuhair Murad and Donna Mizani. Katy did her best to appropriate Indian culture by sporting a traditional Indian bridal nose ring. It is worn by brides throughout the wedding day, with the groom removing it on the wedding night. Ugh.
Russell didn’t feel the need to holler, “WE WANT A PRE-NUP,” as he recently told fans at a New York Times “TimesTalks” Q&A in NYC:
“We just love each other and we want to get married in front of our friends and family and keep it very normal. It ain’t about selling the pictures, it ain’t about doing no pre-nup, it’s just a normal thing.”
It “ain’t”, huh? Good luck with all of that.
Of the over 80 guests that did attend, Katy’s BFF Rihanna wasn’t among them, although she was at her Las Vegas bachelorette party. Apparently Riri thought being in the studio was more important. Can’t blame her for that.
Let’s hope Russell and Katy enjoy their honeymoon away from cameras or microphones.
