Hope Solo Tests Positive … For Being On Her Period (aka ‘Shark Week’), Judge Says Lance Armstrong Was NOT On His Period

Gaaah.  How would you like it if everyone in the world new about your Shark Week Situation?  That’s what has happened to U.S. Olympic Soccer Star, Hope Solo, who was accused of doping, when in fact, she tested positive for a (pre) menstrual medication that contained a diuretic.

via ESPN.com:

The 30-year-old Solo tested positive for Canrenone in a test on June 15.

“I took a medication prescribed by my personal doctor for pre-menstrual purposes that I did not know contained a diuretic,” Solo said in a statement. “Once informed of this fact, I immediately cooperated with USADA and shared with them everything they needed to properly conclude that I made an honest mistake, and that the medication did not enhance my performance in any way.”

Canrenone is classified as a specified substance, so its presence in an athlete’s sample can result in a reduced sanction.

“As someone who believes in clean sport, I am glad to have worked with USADA to resolve this matter and I look forward to representing my country at the 2012 Olympic Games in London,” she said.

Awesome Sauce.

Lance Armstrong, screaming at another cyclist.

Meanwhile, alleged real doper/cancer-spreader (blame Kathy Griffin’s mom for that reference)  Lance Armstrong’s lawsuit against the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency from moving ahead with charges that he used performance-enhancing drugs throughout his entire career, including all seven of his Tour de France wins, was thrown out of court.  A Federal Court Judge issued this statement:

“This Court is not inclined to indulge Armstrong’s desire for publicity, self-aggrandizement or vilification of Defendants, by sifting through eighty mostly unnecessary pages in search of the few kernels of factual material relevant to his claims,”

Hey, Lance?  I don’t believe you.  FYI.
