Another bites the dust. We saw Kristen Wiig make a touching exit on the SNL finale last month, now Andy Samberg is confirming that he won’t be returning to the show in the fall.
“It’s an incredibly emotional and strange moment in my life,” Samberg told the New York Times on Friday. “Obviously it’s not a huge shock, but I did officially decide not to come back.”
Samberg joined SNL in 2005 and became famous for the “Digital Shorts” he wrote with fellow writers and The Lonely Island members Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer. He also famously impersonated Mark Wahlberg and created the Shy Ronnie character who recently joined Santigold onstage at a show in NYC.
He has his acting, ‘That’s My Boy’ with Adam Sandler will be out June 15, and music to fall back on. Hopefully he’ll return to the show to host like past cast members and give us “Dick In A Box Part 2.”
Why do we feel like Justin Timberlake might not host again? That’s just not cool, man.
