Christian Bale Auditioned In Val Kilmer’s Batsuit – More Behind The Scenes Pics From ‘The Dark Knight Trilogy’

Fans of Christopher Nolan‘s ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy have a lot to look forward to when the ‘Ultimate Collector’s Edition’ Blu-ray boxset is released on Tuesday Sept 24. There is tons of bonus material, and we get to see Christian Bale‘s audition tape where he had to dons the same Batsuit that Val Kilmer wore in Joel Schumacher‘s ‘Batman Forever.’  Take a look!

Christian Bale auditions for Batman Begins in… by BatmanNewsCom

He auditions opposite his ‘The Fighter’ co-star Amy Adams who I think would have been a better choice for Rachel Dawes. That part eventually went to Katie Holmes, and Katie was allowed out of the house for awhile, so I guess it wasn’t all bad. We’ll also see Cillian Murphy, who would get the role of Scarecrow in ‘Batman Begins,’ try on the Batsuit but he wasn’t quite what the filmmakers were looking for. His lips look a lot like Kilmer’s though, don’t they?

The Dark Knight Trilogy: Ultimate Collector’s Edition’ will feature six discs, including the retails version of the films, cute little Mattel versions of the Batmobile and Batpod, a 48-page book of production stills and Mondo mini posters of the series’ villains. Mysteriously missing, Catwoman.

The set is limited edition, only 141,500 were made! It retails for $99.99. So will you Bat stans be adding this to your collection?

TIME Magazine Names Daniel Day-Lewis ‘World’s Greatest Actor’…Honk Shooooo

Oh, Time Magazine.  Will this proclamation become an annual affair, or is this a one-time deal?  Because I’ve got something to say about this, either way.

Christian Bale in (l) ‘American Psycho’ and (r) ‘The Machinist’

Self-congratulations season Awards season hasn’t even started yet–in fact, I thought it just ended, and already Daniel Day-Lewis has been given every single award?  Now listen, DD-L is a fine actor.  Yes, indeed. But I never seek his films out, like I do for say, Christian Bale. (And I’m not referring to any of the Batman movies.) There is something about DD-L that makes me forget he’s even around.  Maybe that’s it:  I find Daniel Day-Lewis dull. Slightly (?) pretentious and definitely holier-than-thou in interviews.

DDL, The Cobbler.

Remember when he went off to become a gotdamn COBBLER in Florence after winning an Academy Awards? (My Left Foot is smaller than my right–maybe he could make me a decent fitting shoe.)

My point is, just because a dude is tall, thin and ALREADY LOOKS LIKE LINCOLN, does not ‘World’s Greatest Actor’ make.  Why wasn’t Helen Mirren given this accolade after her astounding representation of Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen?  I love the story she told of how she learned walk like The Queen by studying her CORGI’S little trot.

Dame Helen Mirren

And might I mention Dame Helen Lydia Mirren, DBE didn’t already resemble the mighty woman she portrayed. As we well know, she won the Oscar for Best Actress in 2006. Where was her TIME Magazine cover?

Who do you think is ‘The World’s Greatest Actor‘? I say there are many…not just one dude.

Both actor Christian Bale and director Christopher Nolan (The Dark Night Rises) have issued separate statements regarding the appalling and tragic shooting massacre , which claimed 12 lives and left dozens more injured in Aurora, Colorado during the midnight screening July 20th.

Bale stated:

“Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.”

Christopher Nolan spoke for the entire cast and crew of the film:

“Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew ofThe Dark Knight Rises, I would like to express our profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy that has befallen the entire Aurora community,” says Nolan.

He continues, “I would not presume to  know anything about the victims of the shooting but that they were there last night to watch a movie. I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime. The movie theatre is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me.”

Nolan concludes, “Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families.”

It’s being reported too, that Warner Bros. Pictures has decided to cancel premieres for The Dark Knight Rises in both Mexico and Japan in light of the shooting in Colorado. They already canceled the Paris premiere, and announced yesterday that they would not report box office earnings out of respect for the victims.

“Out of respect for the victims and their families, Warner Bros. Pictures will not be reporting box office numbers for The Dark Knight Rises throughout the weekend. Box office numbers will be released on Monday,” a studio statement read.
