‘Modern Family‘ actress Ariel Winter has reportedly been removed from her home due to allegations of physical and emotional abuse by her mother, TMZ first reported on Wednesday. The 14-year old has been placed in a temporary guardianship with her older sister Shanelle Workman. A judge also order her mother, Crystal Workman, to stay at least 100 yards away from her and isn’t allowed contact with her daughter until further notice.
According to TMZ, Shanelle was removed from Workman’s home by the Department of Children and Family Services nearly 20 years ago amid similar allegations. She was placed in foster care for two years and never moved back in with her mom.
Crystal spoke out to People saying that the allegations were all “untrue.” “I have my doctor’s letter that my daughter’s never been abused. … I have stylists’ letters that she’s never been abused.”
According to court papers filed on October 3 in L.A., Winter alleges her mother subjected her to “ongoing physical abuse (slapping, hitting, pushing) and emotional abuse (vile name-calling, personal insults about minor and minor’s weight, attempts to ‘sexualize’ minor, deprivation of food, etc.) for an extended period of time.”
The judge has set the next hearing for November 20.
