The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced it it’s 16 nominees for it’s 2014 Class of Inductees on Wednesday, and half of the field were first timers. Among them were Nirvana, Hall & Oates and Linda Ronstadt. Not surprisingly, Nirvana got a nom during their first year of eligibility, while it’s taken some of the other nominees quite a few tries.
Also on the list are KISS, Peter Gabriel, YES, Link Wray and The Zombies. Returning nominees include LL Cool J, N.W.A and Chic. This is the eighth nomination for Chic, and with the stellar year that co-founder Nile Rodgers has been having, I think the eighth time might be the charm. The finalists were chosen by secret ballots cast by more than 600 voters, including past inductees and other musicians. The final inductees will be announced in December, with the ceremony being held next year in April. The concert will air on HBO in May.
You can cast your vote for your favorite artist on the RockHall.com or RollingStone.com. The Top 5 vote-getters will make up a “fans” ballot which will count towards one vote. Oh, and yes, you can vote more than once!
