If you were expecting something controversial to happen at this year’s Video Music Awards, you didn’t get it, thankfully. But there were some decent performances, and that nagging feeling that we were all too old to be watching the show. Though at times it did feel like a really long opening act for Beyonce, the night also belonged to Nicki Minaj and asses. So congrats, MTV, you put together something great. Let’s try to do this again next year!
As the “Winter of Beyonce” continues, we finally get to see the full shoot for her latest Vogue cover. Mrs. Knowles-Carter is featured for the mag’s big Power Issue, with a glorious photos shot by Patrick Demarchelier where she wears Alexander McQueen, Givenchy and Rochas. In the interview, Bey talks with Jason Gay about her new album and life as a mom.
Beyonce is embarking on what is sure to be the biggest tour of the year, and of course we can look forward to a new album. She says it will be “a lot more sensual…empowering,” and we can expect songs with Timbaland and Justin Timberlake.
While recording in The Hamptons, her daughter Blue Ivy, whom she refers to as her “homey,” would often be in the studio with her, but pal Gwyneth Paltrow says they would make sure to turn the music down. And about those rumors that Beyonce was faking her pregnancy? While the gossip may have upset her mother Tina Knowles the most, Beyonce didn’t let the rumors get her down. “Mom, I don’t owe them that. Let them say what they want to say.”
Oh, and in case you wondering, she does read internet posts and stories about herself, but she knows better than to read the comments section. “Don’t scroll down! You’re definitely going to get your feelings hurt.”
You can read the rest of the interview and see the rest of the photo shoot when the issue hits newsstands February 19.
