Anthony Hopkins Writes Bryan Cranston a Fan Letter! Fanboy Alert!

 Hannibal + Heisenberg = L O V E

Ohmygyaaaaah, you guys. Anthony Hopkins is a total FANBOY for Bryan Cranston! (Get in line behind ME, Sir!)  After watching every episode of Breaking Bad marathon-style, Sir Anthony Hopkins sat down and wrote a bit of a love-letter to everyone’s favorite meth cook!

via THR:

Dear Mister Cranston.

I wanted to write you this email – so I am contacting you through Jeremy Barber – I take it we are both represented by UTA . Great agency.

I’ve just finished a marathon of watching “BREAKING BAD” – from episode one of the First Season – to the last eight episodes of the Sixth Season. (I downloaded the last season on AMAZON) A total of two weeks (addictive) viewing.

I have never watched anything like it. Brilliant!

Your performance as Walter White was the best acting I have seen – ever.

I know there is so much smoke blowing and sickening bullshit in this business, and I’ve sort of lost belief in anything really.

But this work of yours is spectacular – absolutely stunning. What is extraordinary, is the sheer power of everyone in the entire production. What was it? Five or six years in the making? How the producers (yourself being one of them), the writers, directors, cinematographers…. every department – casting etc. managed to keep the discipline and control from beginning to the end is (that over used word) awesome.

From what started as a black comedy, descended into a labyrinth of blood, destruction and hell. It was like a great Jacobean, Shakespearian or Greek Tragedy.

If you ever get a chance to – would you pass on my admiration to everyone – Anna Gunn, Dean Norris, Aaron Paul, Betsy Brandt, R.J. Mitte, Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Steven Michael Quezada – everyone – everyone gave master classes of performance … The list is endless.

Thank you. That kind of work/artistry is rare, and when, once in a while, it occurs, as in this epic work, it restores confidence.

You and all the cast are the best actors I’ve ever seen.

That may sound like a good lung full of smoke blowing. But it is not. It’s almost midnight out here in Malibu, and I felt compelled to write this email.

Congratulations and my deepest respect. You are truly a great, great actor.

Best regards

Tony Hopkins.

Don’t you just LOVE this??

I think playing “Love Letter” by Clairy Browne & The Bangin’ Rackettes is in order…let’s dance with our two favorite bad boys, shall we?

Awwww, yeah.

American Idol Recap – It’s About Damn Time

I didn’t watch every single second of Idol‘s results show, I just wanted to know who would get the boot. So it seems as if a number of prayers were answered, Lazaro Arbos finally got the boot. Burnell Taylor, who we all know shouldn’t have gone home before him, actually tweeted “GOD IS GOOD!” when Lazaro’s exit was announced. Nice? Not really. Hilarious? Yes!

Lazaro was in the bottom with Amber Holcomb, who wasn’t all that bad on Wednesday night, but she wasn’t all that great either. Of course Kree Harrison and Candice Glover got the biggest numbers, and I suspect that these two ladies will take the top spot in the end.

Lazaro’s goodbyes were a little awkward. He sang “Feeling Good” as his swan song, and the judges pretended to deliberate but of course they weren’t using the Save for him. Amber cried, as did Mariah Carey, but Randy Jackson sat at the judges table cackling. This show has been lackluster for the most part this season, but little moments like that make me glad that I have kept watching.

I don’t even have to ask if the right person went home. It’s nice to see a Top 5 with all girls. So Idol is no stranger to celeb appearances, but they have been lacking this season, until last night.

Mariah, Randy and Sir Anthony Hopkins

I forgot to mention that the Hannibal Lecter himself, at least the best one until I figure out how I feel about Mads Mikkelsen over on ‘Hannibal’Anthony Hopkins was in the audience Wednesday night. Thursday’s show had Kevin Bacon, who stars on ‘The Following’ which is on FOX in case you didn’t know!

‘Hitchcock’ Movie Trailer And Poster

You’ll be getting twice the Alfred Hitchcock fix this year. HBO has it’s movie ‘The Girl‘ premiering later this month, and now we have a look at ‘Hitchcock,’ another biopic starring Anthony Hopkins as the auteur.

ScarJo as Janet Leigh

Hopkins bares an uncanny resemblance to Hitchcock with the help of some well done prosthetics. The movie also stars Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, the star of ‘Psycho‘ and she seems to do the infamous shower scene justice. Toni Collette plays Hitchcock’s assistant and the always amazing Helen Mirren plays his wife, Alma Reville.

Both movies explore his relationships with his leading ladies, some of whom he was obsessed with, and points to the director being something of a sexual deviant. ‘Hitchcock‘ has the bigger cast and is already getting Oscar buzz, but I can’t wait to see and compare both.

Hitchcock’ will be in theaters November 23rd.
