Today’s Blind Item – SHOCKING BEHAVIOR by Academy Awards Nominee Edition

Photo: GettyImages

Most of the time an Academy Award nominee tells a really funny story about being awakened at 5:30am by their agent or manager telling them the good news that they have been nominated. This year, one of the nominees for best actor/best actress found out while they were still in the middle of an all night bender with someone who is not their significant other.

After a night of epic partying, this actor/actress was actually in the middle of having sex with a stranger they picked up earlier in the night when their phone began blowing up with the news. This one will shock you with who it is.

BLINK. BLINK. Ummm…”shocking” is the key word here.  Would we be shocked to hear Clooney is the answer? Not really.  Let’s do the whole rundown, shall we?

Best Actor Nominees:

Demián Bichir – Married; no idea about him, quite honestly.

George Clooney – If you’re shocked, you’re also naive. Sorry. Not him.

Jean Dujardin – Married and French.  Not shocking.

Gary Oldman – Married, but who knows? He has quite the reputation with the ladies.

Brad Pitt – Might be shocking, considering all the “Daddy” press he likes to push and that “Bad Girl” significant other.

And now, the Best Actress Nominees:

Glenn Close – Married; Not all the shocking.

Viola Davis – Married, newly adopted child; Pretty shocking, if you ask me.

Rooney Mara – Not married; also not shocking since she is rumored to have hooked up with David Fincher and possibly Daniel Craig on the set of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

Meryl Streep – Married; Has anyone else seen her girlishly flirtatious hair flipping during interviews?  Go watch her on Kimmel. I wouldn’t be shocked.

Michelle Williams -Not married; no boyfriend that I’ve heard of or seen. She seems pretty prim and proper, but it’s because of her Peter Pan-collared dresses. Not shocking.  She’s single.

So.  I’ll go with Brad or Viola.  Please chime in! Who would you consider “shocking”?

James Franco and Anne Hathaway To Host 2011 Oscars. WHAT?!!

James Franco and Anne Hathaway to co-host the Oscars?

In a very surprising announcement this morning, James Franco and Anne Hathaway were picked to host the 2011 Academy Awards.  I take it Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin weren’t going to be available again.

The Official Statement was made by the Academy:

Beverly Hills, CA (November 29, 2010) – James Franco and Anne Hathaway will serve as co-hosts of the 83rd Academy Awards®, Oscar telecast producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer announced today. Both have previously appeared on the telecast but not in hosting capacities.

“James Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons— fresh, exciting and multi-talented. We hope to create an Oscar broadcast that will both showcase their incredible talents and entertain the world on February 27,” said Cohen and Mischer. “We are completely thrilled that James and Anne will be joining forces with our brilliant creative team to do just that.”

Franco, who currently can be seen in “127 Hours,” will be making his second appearance on an Oscar telecast. His other film credits include “Eat, Pray, Love,” “Date Night,” “Milk” and “Pineapple Express.” Franco is also known for his portrayals of Harry Osborn in the “Spider-Man” trilogy.

Hathaway will be making her fifth appearance on an Academy Awards telecast. She was recently seen in “Alice in Wonderland” and currently can be seen in “Love and Other Drugs.” Hathaway’s other film credits include “Bride Wars,” “Becoming Jane,” “The Devil Wears Prada” and “The Princess Diaries.” She was nominated for an Oscar in 2008 for her lead performance in “Rachel Getting Married.”

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2010 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center, and televised live on the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide.

This seems like a ploy to get younger viewers to tune in to the 18-hour live telecast, doesn’t it?   Both James and Anne have been great, or good enough, hosting Saturday Night Live, Anne most recently.  (If only she could do the entire awards show as Katie Holmes!)

"Uhh...what a MAGICAL evening!"

Franco could be nominated for his role in “127 Hours” so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.  The year the show had no host wasn’t too bad, though.

Oh, gurrrl.

Hopefully, James will be wasted OR in drag…

2010 Oscar Nominations – No Surprises WhatsoEVER.

2010 Oscar Nominations..SNORE.

Honk Shoooooo.  I know I’m supposed to be excited about all this, but I’m over it. (Until the night OF the show, then get outta my way.)  All I know is I’m thrilled for QT (Quentin Tarantino for those of you who DON’T have him over for dinner each and every Thursday night..SNORT!) has 8, count ’em, 8 nominations for Inglourious Basterds.

That Blue Man Group/Smurf movie and the Hurt’s Don’t It?? movie both have 9 nominations.   Speaking of which, what are the gotdamn odds that James Cameron is up against his ex-wife, Kathryn Bigelow for Best Director AND Best Picture for those two films?? Cuh-raaaazy.  I’d be so pissed off if I were Kathryn.  James Cameron looks like a NUT (is a prolific adulterer, FYI) and his movie is totally tryna be all serious, when Kathryn’s is actually about real live drama. Whatev.
