Nine Inch Nails, Joan Jett And The Blackhearts, Green Day and More Earn Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Nominations

Pioneering punk rockers Green Day, Joan Jett and DiC faves Nine Inch Nails are just two of the bands that are eligible for introduction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 2015. In order to be eligible, artists must have made their first recordings 25 years ago. Green Day’s ‘1,000 Hours and NIN’s influential ‘Pretty Hate Machine were both released in 1989.

Also included on the list of nominees are The SmithsStingBill WithersN.W.A. and the late Lou Reed. Like Sting, who was inducted in 2003 with The Police, Reed already has a spot in the museum with The Velvet Underground, but I think his recent death will earn him a solo spot. I’m sure NIN won’t have a problem getting in either, and it’d be great to see ten time nominees Nile Rodgers and Chic get some much deserved recognition.

The inductees will be announced at the end of the year, with the induction ceremony taking place on April 18th, 2015 in Cleveland, Ohio. You have until December 9th to add your vote to the “fan ballot” over at

How on EARTH can "Pretty Hate Machine" be 25 years old?

I think you know who we’ll be voting for, but who will you be giving the extra push to? Let us know!

Bow down before the one you serve--indeed. Unf.

Nine Inch Nails Perform On ‘Austin City Limits’ This Weekend- Yes. You Read That Correctly.

Trent Reznor

First of all, THE HELL??  I never thought I would see the day that Dipped in Cream’s Dark Loverman, Trent Reznor would take over an entire episode of Austin City Limits, did you? Just hold onto your muh-fuh’n hats and watch this heated-up performance of “Sanctified”.

Wait just one second…is that?? Is that REALLY Lisa Fischer singing with Trent? THE LISA FISCHER?? Why, yes. Yes it is. Lisa is the Diva of all back-up singers (a term that actually doesn’t do her justice). She is THE voice behind The Rolling Stones, the late, great Luther Vandross. If you haven’t seen the Academy Award Winning Documentary “20 Feet From Stardom“, make an effort.

Lisa Fischer and that old skinny dude.

“Millions know their voices, but no one knows their names. In his compelling new film TWENTY FEET FROM STARDOM, award-winning director Morgan Neville shines a spotlight on the untold true story of the backup singers behind some of the greatest musical legends of the 21st century. Triumphant and heartbreaking in equal measure, the film is both a tribute to the unsung voices who brought shape and style to popular music and a reflection on the conflicts, sacrifices and rewards of a career spent harmonizing with others.

These gifted artists span a range of styles, genres and eras of popular music, but each has a uniquely fascinating and personal story to share of life spent in the shadows of superstardom.    Along with rare archival footage and a peerless soundtrack, TWENTY FEET FROM STARDOM boasts intimate interviews with Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Mick Jagger and Sting to name just a few.  However, these world-famous figures take a backseat to the diverse array of backup singers whose lives and stories take center stage in the film.”

This incredible documentary now on Netflix…it’s mesmerizing.

ANYWAY. I’m kind of losing my mind because I will wake up on Sunday and find the airing of Nine Inch Nails on Austin City Limits…and it’s KIND of a big deal. It’ll be my birthday!

Thank you, Trent. Lovely timing.
