img-lupitanyongovoguecover_122954364342

Lupita Nyong’o‘s next big project will be in a galaxy far, far away. But for now, we get to enjoy her Vogue cover. For the upcoming July issue, the Oscar winner was photographed by Mikael Jansson in the beautiful city of Marrakech wearing designs by Proenza SchoulerRodarte and Givenchy. And of course, Fashion’s It-Girl wears it all well.

The stunning 31-year old quickly became a red carpet favorite, which the help of stylist Micaela Erlanger, attending award shows and premieres in choice looks from Ralph LaurenChanel and Miu Miu. Then of course there was “Nairobi Blue” Prada gown she wore to this year’s Academy Awards that made her look like a real life Disney princess. Although she seems to effortlessly float down the red carpet, Nyong’o tells the mag that it feels like a war zone and the best advice she got to keep it together was to “Keep a granola bar in that clutch of yours!”

Even as a young girl growing up in Kenya, she has an interest in fashion. She even made her own prom dress!

It was a velvet miniskirt with a matching little top and an iridescent silver translucent fabric that flowed to the ground,” she shared with Hamish Bowles. “It was kind of ridiculous, but it was fabulous at the time.”

Could we see line from Lupita in the future? Maybe, but pretty soon we will see her starring in ads for cosmetics brand Lancôme, joining it’s other brand ambassadors, Penelope CruzKate Winslet and model Daria Werbowy

So The Year Of Lupita continues, and hopefully this won’t be the last time we see her on Vogue.

RiRi – Channeling Josephine Baker?

It was another big night for style at this year’s CFDA Fashion Awards. Models, designers and actors gathered to honor the best and brightest in the world of fashion. Everyone brought their mostly A game, though there were some looks like that I’m sure only the people wearing them could really pull off. Here are some of those choice looks, and a list of the event’s winners.

I usually hate “OMG can you believe she just had a baby” comments, but can you believe Olivia Wilde recently pushed a tiny human out of her body?

Okay, so I saved Solange for last because she looks wonderful in Calvin Klein, and we all know girl had a rough May. I think we can move past Elevator-Gate and get back to enjoying her amazing style, and hair.

It’s known as the “Oscars Of The Fashion World“, but I don’t think there would be many gold statuettes given out for some of the looks at the Costume Institute Gala. This year’s event celebrates the work of designer Charles James, known for the “Clover Leaf” dress which is currently on display with 20 others at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The dress code, which included suits with tails for the men, was said to be strict, but it seems a few attendees didn’t get the memo.

Here are the best, and worst, looks of the night.

Anna Wintour in Chanel

Everyone waited to see what Lupita Nyong’o would be wearing, but she left a lot of us feeling disappointed. She works this Prada number, but it would have been better if the theme was ‘The Roaring 20s’ or something.

Sarah Jessica Parker‘s Oscar de la Renta ballgown wasn’t a big hit, but you could tell she was having fun wearing it.

Solange disappointed us as well in this 3.1 Phillip Lim dress. She usually slays, and I never use that term loosely, or at all, the red carpet.

solange

Anne Hathaway in red Calvin Klein crop top thingy.

Johnny Depp, with Amber Heard. He got it right, but somehow he still looks like he just waltzed off the set of Tim Burton’s next movie.

Zoe Kravitz in Topshop. We’re not sure about that hair.

Emma Stone, in Thakoon, with Andrew Garfield

You know, i’m really starting to like Rita Ora, but her fashion choices baffle me sometimes. This Donna Karan Atelier is alright, and it would have been a lot better without the lace-up shoes.

Brie Larson in Prada. Miuccia, why would you do this to these girls?

brie larson

The always lovely Janelle Monae in Tadashi Shoji

Gabrielle Union in Prada

Katie Holmes in Marchesa. On Twitter, I said this dress looked like dried mustard, but I think that may have been too nice.

When not dressed by people that clearly hate her, Kim Kardashian can look really good. She and Kanye West both wore Lanvin.
