George Michael Back In Treatment, But For What?

George Michael, Seeking “Treatment”

Oh, George Michael.  We thought everything was going so well for you after seeing a rousing performance of “Freedom” at the Closing Ceremonies at the 2012 London Olympics.  What’s up?

Seems George has cancelled a string of concerts he was to perform in Sydney and other Australian cities in November and early December. These newly cancelled dates were make-up shows from cancelling the same shows last year due to a health scare in Vienna, in which the singer was hospitalized.

I have today announced the cancellation of the shows in Australia which breaks my heart. By way of explanation all I can say at this time is that since last year’s illness I have tried in vain to work my way through the trauma that the doctors who saved my life warned me I would experience. They recommended complete rest and the type of post traumatic counselling which is available in cases like mine but I’m afraid I believed (wrongly) that making music and getting out there to perform for the audiences that bring me such joy would be therapy enough in itself. Unfortunately I seriously underestimated how difficult this year would be and although I was right to believe that the shows would bring me great happiness and that my voice would recover completely (I truly think that some of my recent performances have been my best ever) I was wrong to think I could work my way through the major anxiety that has plagued me since I left Austria last December.

All that’s left for me to do is apologise to my wonderful Australian fan base and to promise faithfully that as soon as I completed these shows here in the UK I will receive the treatment which is so long overdue.

Of course we hope George gets the help he needs and can get back on the road as soon as possible. I feel terribly fortunate to have seen him in concert three times.  If you have tickets for the Australian shows, please go to for details on refunds.

Olympic Snowboarder Shaun White Arrested – Mugshot

Yikes, Shaun.

Seeing Olympians in the news during non-Olympic cycles is not always a good thing and Shaun White’s mugshot is proof of that. Last spotted with Leonardo DiCaprio’s ex-girlfriend Bar Refaeli at the London Games this past summer, the snow boarder apparently went buck wild at a The Lowe’s Vanderbilt in Nashville. The NY Daily News reports that the 2 time gold  medal winner, known as The Flying Tomato for his long red hair, was charged with public intoxication after destroying some property and attempting to attack a guest who tried to intervene.

I guess even working with Bob Costas briefly would the most mellow person to drink.

Queen’s Corgi From London Olympics James Bond Mini-Film Dies

James Bond, The Queen and Her Corgis

Oh dear.  This is veddy, veddy sad news indeed.  One of Queen Elizabeth II’s beloved corgis has died, along with a weinerdog-corgi mix.

Monty and two other corgis greeted actor Daniel Craig, playing 007 in the short film.  The death of Monty, 13, who was previously owned by the Queen Mother, leaves two corgis in the palace.  The royal family’s ties with the breed began when the future George VI bought his first Pembroke corgi in 1933.

The palace announced the death of Monty and of Cider, a dorgi, or dachsund-corgi cross-breed.

In the short film, screened ahead of the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Games, the dogs ran down the stairs and performed tummy rolls.

They then stood as a helicopter took off for the Olympic stadium, carrying Bond and a stunt double of the monarch.

Willow and Holly are the two remaining corgis.  And two dorgis, Candy and Vulcan, remain at the palace.

Hmmm…I wonder why both doggies died?  The Palace is only making the statement, but without specific details.
